The sound of Parliament-Funkadelic, up close.
Danny Bedrosian has spent more than two decades playing keyboards with George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic. His own band, Secret Army, brings together musicians from the P-Funk family in a stripped-down lineup built around keyboards, bass and drums.
For this show, Bedrosian is joined by longtime P-Funk bassist Lige Curry and drummer Benjamin “Benzel Baltimore” Cowan. Rather than the massive ensemble associated with a full Parliament-Funkadelic show, Secret Army gives these musicians room to stretch out as a rhythm section—funk grooves, improvisation, heavy bass and Bedrosian’s keyboards at the center of it.
There’s a local connection, too. Bedrosian grew up in Lawrence, Massachusetts, before eventually joining the band he had followed since he was a kid.
At The Cannery, you’ll be seeing them in an outdoor venue that holds fewer than 100 people—not from the back of a theater or festival field, but just a few feet from the band.

Double Header Rock Friday! Alien Drag & Ointment
Album Review: “First of all: PLAY LOUD. Second of all, don’t listen to this collection expecting something either completely serious and conventional or something reputably avant-garde and somewhat boring. This is a curious mix of punk rock conventions yoked to bizarre, Queen-like grandiosity, as on the opening snippet “Dependable.” We return to slightly more familiar territory with the buzzing, synth-slathered opening bars of “Mistake,” which segue neatly into prog-style pomp backed by yobbo-style vocals and furiously churning percussion, all topped by tottering guitars.”
North of Trouble
Get ready to get down. North of Trouble brings the smoothest rhythms and the deepest grooves to the North Shore and beyond through an electic mix of classic soul, funk and blues.

Bam the Drummer brings an energetic, interactive live show powered by wild beats, crowd requests and nonstop personality. Led by Steve “Bam” Brophy, each performance lets the audience help choose the music, creating a spontaneous experience that keeps the room moving all night.
Electric Heaters (Premier Surf Rock)
The Electric Heaters are a Boston-based instrumental trio that serve up a cinematic blend of "Retro‑sonic Surf Noir"—imagine reverb‑soaked guitar twang meeting spy, soul, spaghetti‑western, and surf vibes. Led by guitarist Matt Heaton, their music evokes moody, groove‑laden soundtracks for imaginary films, with nods to Morricone, Booker T., Link Wray and The Raybeats. Their debut studio album, From the Film of the Same Name, released in 2022, reimagines forgotten ‘60s–‘80s B‑movie themes with a modern twist. The Electric Heaters bring a chilly North Atlantic surf flair that’s dark, dreamy, and undeniably cinematic—all without uttering a word.
